God has raised up a wonderful cadre of organizations and dedicated individuals who provide invaluable services to the missionary cause. These ministries primarily provide support services so that missions and missionaries can serve more efficiently and effectively. Some organizations are constituted as a missionary organization and their staff serve as missionaries, while other organizations and individuals are completely dedicated to serving missions in their own way. Praise the Lord for each service.
Professional people with expertise in the building trades are available as members of mission organizations which are dedicated to provide quality workmanship at a fraction of commercial rates, up to 50% savings. These organizations are available to do ministry evaluation, site plans, blue prints and oversight of the construction. Consider: Missionary TECH Team in Longview, Texas, Hard Hats for Christ, Kelso, WA. [See further information in chapter 18. Mobile Americans #B4 for other missions involved in the building trades as RVers.
BROADCASTING
Broadcasting has come of age in the 21st century especially with the importance of communicating the Gospel into lands where it is very difficult to send missionaries. Radio and television are being used extensively for encouraging believers in remote locations who have limited access to fellowship groups, as well as making Biblical Truth available in areas where that Truth is often forbidden and/or is deliberately distorted. SAT-7, founded 1997, beams the Gospel via satellite into the Middle East and North Africa in Arabic, Farsi and Turkic, 24-7. Transworld Radio [TWR], founded in 1952, broadcasts in 230 languages and dialects from 6 super-power transmitters, satellite and internet, 2700 local stations, receiving a million responses annually, with some 1,000 staff. HCJB World Radio, founded in 1931, by World Radio Missionary Fellowship, "Voice of the Andes" 100,000 watt shortwave radio station at Quito, Ecuador was dismantled in 2009 to makeway for an airport. WRMF has been reconfigured to newer methodology of satelite, AM/FM & Internet. Their new ministry is called 'Radio Planting' which means they assist in establishing local radio stations internationally. So far 350 new stations have been established around the world. HCJB Global Australia still broadcasts shortwave which may be heard in Quito.
Computer technology is a fast moving industry and extremely competitive. The cheapest hardware may not be the best buy in the long haul; therefore, it is best to consult with Christians who know the trade.
Missionary Computer Fellowship, 106 E. Church St., Orlando, FL 32801. Ph 407-422-9265. Mr. Walter Tripp is a retired engineer who loves the Lord and has gathered a number of Christian friends of like interest to assemble quality machines, built to your specifications, and teach missionaries how to use the necessary software to serve the Lord well. They provide a wonderful service.
Christian Computing Magazine, P. O. Box 198, Raymore, MO 64083. Ph 816-331-3881 provides a wealth of information about Bible software programs and tips on trouble shooting, etc. Valuable.
Centurion Project, 22 acres for ‘missionary support group’. C.J. Maher, Rt 2 Box 97, Montgomery, MN 56069.
A variety of ministries in the printing trades are available to the missionary consumer. Consider:
Source of Light Mission, Madison, GA, which prints and distributes tons of Bible correspondence courses free of charge in several languages, maintaining centers in numerous locations all over the world. SOLM provides a curriculum and books for training leaders in the local church called, ‘Leaders In Training’ [LIT].They also provide a college level curriculum called, the ‘World Wide Bible Institute’.
Teaching materials are prepared, printed and distributed by several mission organizations and are available for purchase, even though they may not advertise. Consider:
BCM International, PA, prepares lessons and visuals for teaching children.
CEF, MO, prepares lessons and flannelgraph for teaching children,
Faith Venture Visuals, PA, [a department of BCM] provides a number of teaching materials and tools as well as the services of a Christian Education consultant, Dr. Richard Winters, Director
Open Door Ministries, FL, provides literature which is written by and for Black Americans and they maintain a loaning library of cassette tapes of great Bible preaching and teaching.
RBM Ministries, MI, prepares lessons and visuals for teaching children.
The Mailbox Club, GA, provides Bible study lessons for several age levels in a correspondence format. They have written and provide books for young people and teens which are well received even in the public schools.
SEAN INTERNATIONAL produces Theological Education by Extension [TEE] courses in 70 languages in 133 countries. Tony Barrett, missionary, saw the need of training native leadership in remote places by self-student materials. He established SEAN = 'Study by Extension All Nations', as a foundation to prepare materials for students in remote places to be able to do theological studies to be able to effectively minister to their own peoples.

Voice of the Martyrs Studies show that there have been more martyrs in the 20th Century than in the previous 19 centuries.
Global Recordings Network [formerly Gospel Recordings 1939], indicates that they have recorded Scriptures in over 6200 of the over 10,000 languages and dialects during the past 75 years. ‘The 10K Challenge’ program will provide the Gospel message in most languages and dialects. Tape recordings, mp3 format, iphone apps of Scriptures are available in a myriad of languages so that a copy of a Scripture portion or books of the Bible can be given to someone, or they can download in their native tongue. They work from 50 centers to make Gospel recordings in the most remote places. Motor bikers go to remote areas and record Scriptures, stories by locals. They now partner with OM [Operation Mobilization to distribute GRN resources. [grnusa.net]
The United Bible Societies report that at least one book of the Bible is available in 2,092 languages. The complete Bible is available in 341 languages and the New Testament in 822. These translations are available from several sources.
DISTRIBUTION
The United Bible Societies report that in 2002, 578 million Bibles, New Testaments or Scripture portions were distributed. In 2003 that number dropped to 432 million. In China, 2.8 million were printed for China, Laos and Vietnam, a million more than the year before. In Nigeria 830,000 Bibles and 44,000 New Testaments Scriptures were distributed.
There are 6,703 languages spoken in the world. Wycliffe Bible Translators during the years 1990 to 1995 fielded 250 translators and started in 32 languages per year. They doubled their translation work to 500 translators by the year 2000 and are seeking to enter a new language weekly. The goal is to start Bible translation work in every language without it by the year 2025. There are 2737 languages to go which are spoken by 600 million people. Wycliffe presently works in 965 languages. In 1996, Wycliffe released LinguaLinks, which is an electronic tool box with a CD-Rom which includes data management tools, linguistic analysis, on line references and training modules. [sEE CH 2 TWENTI-FIRST CENTURY]
Epic Partnership was formed to implement the vision of a translation in process for every language by 2025 involving: Campus Crusade for Christ, Int., Wycliffe Int., International Mission Board and Youth With A Mission organizations. Many of these languages are spoken in “creative access” countries.

Several organizations field translators in their ministry countries, such as New Tribes Mission
AVIATION
The services of Missionary Aviation Fellowship [USA & INTL] are invaluable in many hard to access locations around the world, especially for our purposes, in Mexico. MAF says: "there is a correlation between isolation, poverty and not hearing the Gospel". Without their availability, hours of transportation translates into days and weeks and sometimes, extreme danger. They make it possible to hold regular Bible training or leadership training classes via such curricula as Theological Education by Extension [see #3 above] in remote locations otherwise impossible because of time or terrain constraints. Not everyone can, or perhaps should, pull up stakes and go to a residence Bible school; therefore, a viable option is made available. They also provide transportation for medical emergencies or to bring in needed supplies. MAF works from 15 bases in 6 countries.
SHIPPING
Various organizations provide services to the missionary by moving his belongings to a new ministry location. Shipping is costly and time consuming to get the materials there safely and timely. Some organizations may not be constituted as a mission, but as Christians, seek to provide a reasonable service to the missionary.
JAARS 1948 'Jungle Aviation And Radio Services' is a subsidiary of SIL Intl, [Summer Institute of Linguistics], and partners with Wycliffe Bible Translators. They provide air, land & water transportation. This includes shipping services in this country for moving their own missionary’s materials. They will try to accommodate other missionaries as well, when space is available and a truck is going in the needed direction within your time framework. Headquartered in Waxhaw, NC.
