II. LESSON

INTRODUCTION: We have established:

1. That our God, Elohim, is a GODHEAD, which means He exists in three distinct Personalities, all of whom were active in the Creation week.

2. Our Eternal God started the clock of TIME for HIS cosmos.

3. God created EX-NIHILO % Evolution by Natural Laws from existing things.

4. Then He created SPACE [heaven] as a place to put HIS cosmos

5. Then He created Elements [earth] in suspension or solution in sphere water

6. Next He interjected ENERGY: that which in the U. would neither be created nor destroyed, yet necessary for the operating cosmos.

7. The introduction of LIGHT: Electromagnetic Spectrum------------------------------------- DAY-1

B. THIS FIAT DISPLAYS: GOD’S OWN RELATIONAL IMAGE. God is a Spirit [Jn 4:24] and has no body; therefore, that we may more fully relate to God, He said, Let ‘US’ make man in ‘OUR’ Image… ‘OUR Likeness’. [It is interesting that there was something about Daniel, that Pharaoh could perceive “the spirit of the holy gods in him {ch 4}]. Ultimately in the “fullness of time” He revealed Himself in the Incarnation of Son Jesus the ultimate revelation of HIMSELF: [Gal 4:4-6 “God sent His Son, born of woman…to redeem…God sent the HOLY SPIRIT into our hearts”] [I Jn 4:10]

C. GOD CREATED MANKIND. Everything that the Godhead created was focused upon GOD’S ULTIMATE INTENT, to make a PLACE TO  PUT HIS CREATED MANKIND [Job 20:4]… over which he was to rule.

1. “He who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but FORMED IT TO BE INHABITED—“ [Is 45:18]. I understand our Solar System within our Milky Way Galaxy and how it all focuses on the Earth as our habitation [Ps 115:16]. But I am yearning to discover how Galactic Space with its myriads of Galaxies focuses on Earth’s habitation in Our Milky Way Galaxy.

2. NOTE: as God began His creative week, the Hebrew word used… [Elohim - plural with a singular verb = DUALISM], suggests a Godhead. When we come to verse 26, God makes HIS Godhead very clear: “Let US make man in OUR IMAGE, in OUR LIKENESS”. In all other references to His days of creation, before this verse and after, He uses His generic name, God [Elohim]. But in HIS CROWNING fiat, creating man, all Three Persons of the Trinity become super obvious.

3. THE TERM ‘IMAGE”{3x} [zalam]. Frequently used by pagans to make images of their gods [I S 6:5; Num 33:52]; the idea here reverses what man sought to do to represent his homemade images… God is REVEALING HIMSELF to man in terms he can understand.

4. THE TERM ‘LIKENESS’ is fascinating. What is God suggesting? We know that He is Spirit [Jn 4:24]. We further know that Jesus “being in the very nature of God” [Ph 2:6] came “being made in human likeness” [Ph 2:7].

a. Here it is very clear ‘human likeness”. We do not have to wonder or seek to make some representation of our God… if he takes on a likeness, it will be just like Jesus, God Incarnate. [I JN 5:1]

b. The text indicates that Jesus was ‘made’. This must be understood in the context of His mother Mary, who ‘made’ Him in the flesh, an incarnate body. Dr. Luke explains it to Mary, “ You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the HOLY ONE to be born will be called the SON OF GOD” [1:31-32]. Jesus is the eternal Son of God who always existed [Jn 1:1], But now needs a body… ultimately to die for us… death is price for sin.

- Jesus had no Adamic Nature [AN] for two reasons: 1. The Holy Spirit was His Father; therefore, since the AN is transmitted through the human male [I Cor. 15:22], no AN. Second, He committed no sin [I Jn 3:8: Heb 7:26].     

c. The Tripartite Nature of God… the Elohim, made man with a Tripartite nature also [Ch 2:7]:

i.  The Potter formed the BODY of man from the dust of the ground

ii. Then He breathed into that body the Breath of LIFE [GOD CREATED LIFE]

iii. And man became a living SOUL [KJV], BEING [NIV] {NEPHESH} = life principle [many options in Hebrew]

iv. NOTE: The concept of ‘soulish’ part of man is not here implied--- that is there is no Adamic Nature until after the Fall in Gen 3:6-7. After the Fall, [nephesh] takes on a wholly new definition [built in]… the ‘out of control’ emotional part of man becomes obvious: they were AFRAID of God [3:10], ASHAMED of their nakedness [3:10], BLAMING woman [3:12], DECEPTION [3:13], ENMITY [3:15], PAIN [3:16], SORROW [3:17], LABOR [3:19], WILLFULNESS [4:7], MURDER [4:8].

5. WHAT WAS GOD’S ‘INTENT’ FOR MAN?

a. In verse 26 “Let them RULE”. In v. 28 “…subdue earth… rule over everything that moves…” This is certainly a part of God’s image, for when God created the celestial bodies, He was ruling [GUIDING] just exactly where they would be and when. Also, the sun was to rule the day and the moon & stars rule the night by His command. [God’s Rulership] Ps136:9

b. In ch 2:28 God’s intent was for man to be ‘Lovingly OBEDIENT’, not forced to SUBMIT. This is also a part of the image of God. Jesus, God’s Son said: “I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me” [Jn 8:28]. He came to do the will of the Father who sent Him [Jn 4:34; 6:38]. The book of Deuteronomy uses the phrase, “Lord your God” 250 times.

c. In ch 3:8, “God came walking [halak] in the garden” = INTIMATE FELLOWSHIP. Later the same phrase is used of Noah: he ‘walked with God’ [6:9] when others did not and were lost in the flood.

d. The Psalmist intoned: “It is He who made us and we are His people.” Not our own [I  Cor 6:20, 7:23].

6. LORD GOD FORMED MAN FROM DUST OF THE GROUND [2:7].

a. In vs. 11-12: the land produced vegetation, trees after their kind by God’s command [Note: the ‘land produced’ would seem to imply that God used the ‘land He had prepared’ in creating vegetation already mature, able to reproduce after its own ‘kind’. Again this implies source of life which God gave to Plant Life ]

i. Now Lord God ‘forms’ [ytzer] man [adam] from the dust [aphad] of ground [adamah]. The picture is of a POTTER FORMING AN OBJECT WITH A SPECIFIC PLAN IN MIND. Numerous references are made about  man being made from dust [Ps 103:14] and to dust he will return [Gen 3:19].

ii. Observe that Lord God again uses the ‘dust’, land He had prepared, to fashion man as a Potter. [God loves metaphors]

iii. Note relationship of word for man: ADAM and Land [ADAMah]

iv. We must also take note that God now introduces another of His many names in chapter 2. Elohim has now become Lord God. In the Hebrew this is [Jehovah Elohim, & always in that order]. He introduced this dualism as He recounted the creation events in ch 2:4ff. “When the Lord God made earth and heavens…” V.5 “Lord God had not sent rain…” V.7 “Lord God formed man…”. So on through Ch 3. In Ch 4, it is Lord alone.

v. Obviously He is conveying some new concept. What is that? Elohim conveys the concept of Creator-Sustainer-Powerful Godhead: Trinity, Father, Son, Holy Spirit

vi. Jehovah on the other hand, is the Hebrew word [yaweh]. It comes from the verb [hawah = I Am].  The ‘I Am” of Moses’ experience, when he asked God,  who do I tell Israel You Are?” [Ex 3:12]. God says, this is MY NAME! [v.15]

vii. So, what does His name convey? When you conjugate the verb ‘to be’, the first person singular = I Am. The verb ‘to be’ is the primary verb in every language. His name means He is the FIRST in every language into which it may be translated! No other god can be before He IS. He Is NUMBER ONE! UNO [Sp], ein [germ], un [Fr].

viii. NOTE: The I AM also conveys the idea of being FATHER, THE NUMBER ONE FATHER. The one WHO is always there for you. It is the First Person of the [Elohim] Godhead = God the Father, Who therein is the Creator-Sustainer-Indweller.

ix. I CONCLUDE: ‘Lord God’ is used when God creates mankind to convey that HE, the Lord [{Jehovah} the Number One Father AND the {Elohim} ‘God the Father’ is the ONE who will  always be there for you. Isaiah said it well, “The Virgin…will call HIM EMMANUEL” = GOD WITH US [Is 7:14, Mt 1:23] In the NT we have Elohim’s third person, the Holy Spirit indwelling the Believer = God IN us. ”body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you… whom you received from God” [I Cor 6:19].

b. Lord God breathed [yaphak] into his nostrils the breath [shamath] of life [khayah] and man became a living [khayah] soul, being [nephesh]. The picture is that God is the fountain of life. Life cannot evolve nor self generate [Law of Biogenesis].  Here the soul [nephesh] is the ‘life principle’. {2:19 God formed animals from the ground and they also received the life principle [khayah]} [Gen 1:30]. It is quite obvious that Nature did not generate itself as Evolution demands. “Life is more than Chemistry”. Nature is not self-existent. Life is not Physics as textbooks herald. Complex molecules do not automatically form from simple chemical elements and give rise to simple life. The ‘simplest’ forms of life [unicellular such as: bacteria, archaea & protozoa]  are exceedingly complex and able to reproduce themselves. There are no ‘protocells’.or ‘magic matter’. God is the author and giver of all forms of life.

c. God notes that after Adam had named each of the animals, that man is UNIQUE from the rest of the living creatures HE had made. [2:20] It was not good for him to be ‘alone’ [badad = separate]. [2:18]. Obviously God is suggesting that man DID NOT EVOLVE FROM ANIMALS! He needed someone to be ‘like him’. No animal would do, for they were of their own ‘kind’. NOTE: man named the animals = he was created with language, which is knowledge [Col 2:3; Prov 1:7;20:12] Note: God prohibited eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Gen 2:17].

e. He would make a ‘help mete’ [KJV] ‘helper suitable’ [NIV].{nagad = equal & sufficient} no animal would do!

7. LORD GOD FORMED WOMAN FROM MAN’S FLESH [2:21-22]

a. God put him into deep sleep [radam] & removed one of his ribs [zalah], closed up the flesh

b. Lord God made woman [ishah = fem. of ish = man] from rib, and brought her to the man.

c. Man said, “This is bone of my bones & flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, for she was taken out of man”.

d. This is a clear statement, that woman and man are of the same flesh, and not that of animal. It is also clear that God made woman to be man’s wife, not another man.

D. MEN OF SCIENCE have made phenomenal strides in deciphering the DNA code of the human Genome, which is the ‘blueprint of life’. A complete set of nucleic acid sequences [3 billion base pairs] is encoded as DNA within 23 chromosome pairs in cell nuclei. The 2% of DNA which codes for 20,000 Proteins has been sequenced, however the 98% of non-protein coding DNA is still not understood, but considered to be ‘regulatory’ for the production of the proteins. It is hoped that this sequencing may make it possible to ‘personalize medicine for particularly difficult pathology.

       Scientists continue to seek for ways of overcoming pathology. They have not only sequenced the human genome, they are now discovering ways of ‘editing the genome’ by using such tools as ‘CRISPER-Cas9’ to modify the gene structure. They are identifying the pathological portion of the gene.  An RNA molecule guides them to that place in the gene and an enzyme snips or clips out that portion. Then a new portion can be inserted with great accuracy and relative ease. Finally, the system heals the cut. Another method is to seek to turn ‘on or off’ a particular troubling  gene.

       A developing new discipline is called, ‘Epigenetics’. The Epigenome Project is seeking to map the chemical changes in Histone Proteins as they relate to cancer cells.

       They are seeking to grow new organs to replace worn out organs by using the person’s own Stem Cells; therefore, the new organ will not be recognized as foreign by the immune system of the body & reject the new organ. Amazing what is being discovered about God’s wonderfully complex creation & how it operates.

        The human body is made up of 100 trillions of individual cells, within each of which is a virtual power house [mitochondrion] [M]:  liver cells can have 2000 M. cells of activity, which must work in symphony with each other. The human brain with 100 billion nerve cells, holds 3000 terabytes of info. It is the ‘super computer’ like organizer which harmonizes the voluminous activity of the body. It is amazing, what God has done in making it possible for man alone, to communicate verbally through language or balance in walking upright.

1. The harmonious complexity of the human body is compelling

2. The brain is continually repairing itself. Daily 300 million nerve cells die but are not replaced . Some cells are able to ‘transdifferentiate’ & adopt new identity.

3. The brain consumes 20% of body energy. It is truly God’s crowning creation of body.

4. Science is seeking to unravel the electro-chemical ‘wiring’ of the human brain in its dual hemispheric construction

5. Tracing the channels of communication from the brain through the spinal column to the peripheries of the body is challenging for there are 46 miles of nerves.

6. It is even more complicated for the communication skills

7. The motions of the body are the orchestrated movement of the 650 muscles.  Consider the ability of the hand to grasp items or play an instrument.

8. The intricacy of the eyes to be able to recognize shades of colors, and transmit the information upside down, for the brain to coordinate into a complete right-side up whole, in three dimension is phenomenal

9. The complexity of two ears to capture sound, to transmit  the information to the brain to interpret the full complement of music is overwhelmingly complex

10. The tongue has “fungiform papillae” or 8,000 taste buds which are replaced every two weeks. The taste buds have a hole through which food reaches 100 taste receptors where saliva partially dissolves the food, allowing it to recognize whether it is salty, sweet, sour or bitter. This information is sent to the brain where it is combined with info. from…[see #11]

11. The nose is amazing in its ability to distinguish 50,000  scents.

12. Problem of ‘Homochirality’ in living molecules of DNA. Storage of information in 3D as mirror images. How only left-handed AA are chosen?

13. The cardio-vascular system is another science & miracle of God.

a. The 100 trillion working cells must have nutrition to keep working day and night. It is said that ’THE LIFE IS IN THE BLOOD’ [Lev 17:11]. Therefore, the heart beats 7 times per minute [100,000 times daily], to pump 5 to 6 quarts of blood through the lungs to receive oxygenated blood and nutrients, and sends it through 60,000 miles of blood vessels to 650 muscles & 200 bones. Then, the blood must return laden with the metabolic waste of the factories, for disposal through the lungs and kidneys. The kidneys process 423 gallons of blood daily

b. How is the stomach able to receive whatever is eaten, break it down into useable nutrients and get it into the blood stream for distribution? The bacteria ‘E coli’ helps. Since the body does not create vitamin K necessary for blood clotting, God provided Bacteria [the master adapter] in the ‘gut’ to provide it.

c. How do the lungs filter the air we breathe [20,000 X daily] to extract the oxygen to oxygenate the blood? Then to exhale the unwanted carbon monoxide from the body? [Then, the vegetation captures it & oxiginates]

d. God designed the body to protect itself from 20,000 diseases. There are 32 million bacteria on the skin, and a trillion on the feet.

13. The CREATION OF MAN was God’s crowning objective. By this means He revealed Himself through the Builder, His Son. The creation of DNA was God’s epic design for life to replicate itself after its kind. Herein is “organized complexity”. The introduction of data in the form of 3 exotic LANGUAGES [DNA, RNA & Protein] stored for retrieval. Dr. Tomkins says, “The complex grammar in the genome defies Evolution. The code in the genome contains information in both forward and reverse, code that overlaps other code, three-dimensional code, and many other mind-bending linguistic complexities”. As it automatically replicates itself, there is built-in testing for accuracy. There is nothing in this world so phenomenal, so complex, so ‘homochiral’ & so incomprehensive as the bodies integrated biological systems

14. DNA TESTING. Newspaper articles are regularly mentioning the availability of testing for both parents before they proceed with having a child. There are nearly 7,000 molecularly known rare diseases for which only 10% have any cure. [GOD CREATED KNOWLEDGE]

a. Finances are becoming available for research for cures for brain diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, but not so much for lesser known.

b. However, most of the money is available for cures to make a profit.

15. Yet, scientists are adamant to believe that Adam never existed. That we are related to Apes, by Evolutionary Faith, for no science supports this. First: Anatomy denies this transition from apes swinging in trees and man walking upright. Second: Genetics confirms the impossibility. It is determined by scientists that 100 mutations accumulate each generation; over so many thousands of years we would be extinct by mutations in our genome.

16. DNA further debunks the idea of man evolving from his cousin the chimpanzee. There may be a lot of similarity in their DNA; however, there are still 900 million letter differences and an entire chromosome difference.

17. Scientists tell us that life came from Star Dust… stars died for us? Amazing. I thought it was Jesus who died for us and God breathed into us the breath of life. We came from dirt!

E. CONCLUSION. The more we know about God’s crowning creation of mankind, and how amazingly complex we are, the more secure our FAITH becomes from those who deny our Creator. That is, we are more aware of how flawed Evolutionary Faith is. Science has powerfully sought to intimidate Christians into thinking that Science has all the answers. Too many have succumbed without realizing they have been duped. Let us equip ourselves to be able to give an educated answer. PTL. Creation Faith works. [GOD CREATED BOTH LIFE & KNOWLEDGE TO REPLICATE] Gen 2:17 “…KNOWLEDGE of good and evil… not to eat”

“God created man on the earth; ask from one end of the heavens to the other, has anything so great as this ever happened?  Or anything like it ever been heard of? [Du4:32] Is it not amazing that God suggests to search the heavens… that is exactly what they are doing, looking for other worlds… ‘universes’, sources of life, or places [Mars] to colonize. They just are not there.

The conclusion of the matter = the tracing of familial relationships, especially of mankind, depends totally on genetic DNA data/knowledge. We believe by Faith, that the initial humans were created less than 6,000 years ago, not the descendents of a population of primates, proto-humans [antideluvians] who lived in an ancient past leaving behind a scanty fossil record. Anatomical & physiological similarities, which Darwin accurately noted, clearly point to a common Creator, not genealogy.

The 21^st C has produced some amazing developments in the field of human genetics. Much has been learned about the human genome and how to potentially alter it or seek to minimize genetic defects, diseases, etc. Some of it is wonderful and yet super scary, for there is so much they do not know about the DNA., seeking to ‘improve’ upon God’s creation epic. The ‘cyborg’ concept of the merger of organic and ‘biomechatronic’ body parts is already here, but is their ‘tinkering’ with the human genome simply a “draft to be corrected” or is DNA destiny? [TIME Ap 2017 p. 54, 63]..

Society is also playing with great danger when it is toying with the subject of gender identity as portrayed by Time magazine cover shouting: “Beyond He or She”, How a generation is redefining the meaning of gender. “Gender doesn’t have to be defined in rigid terms, Infinite identities. A growing number of young people are moving beyond the idea that we live in a world where sexuality and gender come in only two forms” Even the terminology is confusing, nuanced, wholistic, non conforming?:  Non-binary, ‘they’, agender, gender fluid, gay, straight, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, pansexual, aromatic, asexual, genderqueer, two-spirit [3/27/17 p.51-54]. The author, Katy Steinmetz says, “The students I’m working with say, ‘It’s okay for me to be me, whatever that is.’” Another said, “Your terms do not reflect my reality or the reality of my friends.”  This is a world spinning out of control, for they reject the God who created them and wants to reveal who they are. God warned Adam and Eve, “…you must not eat from the tree of the KNOWLEDGE of good and EVIL…” [Gen 2:17]. There can come no good from ignorance posing as knowledge which leads to confusion. These folks are clearly confused… even their search for a term proves that.

Now there is a movement called, “Transhumanism”, which means to meld bodies with electronic devices. It’s goal is to accelerate Evolution, To make humans more advanced through Robotics, merging us with machines…reinvent  humanity” . [Should We Update God’s Design?, Dennis Sullivan, AM, p48, J-A 2017]. If not melding, why not evolve an Artificial Cortex which can theoretically replace mankind altogether?

It is most amazing. God’s crowning creation is mankind. Three different Hebrew words are used to model mankind. First He ‘made’ man [asah] which means to ‘fabricate’ as a sculpture. He also ‘created’ as in [bara] 2x. Then to bring him an helpmete He used a third Hebrew word [banah] which means  to ‘fashion’ as a seamstress creating the perfect wedding gown… the perfect wife for perfect man. What a great God.
