9. INTRODUCTION TO GOD’S CREATION OF MANKIND: LESSON 12

As we embark on seeking to more fully understand the CAPSTONE of God’s creative week: “Let US make man in OUR IMAGE, in OUR LIKENESS”, may we be impressed with the struggle the Psalmist, David, encountered in writing Psalm 139. The Hebrew language is superb in ‘word pictures’ to express the awesomeness of what Elohim was seeking to reveal about HIMSELF through the “making of mankind”. David was a great choice for: “God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do” [Acts 13:22].

In Psalm 139 David said about God, “You created [NIV] ‘possessed’ [KJV] my inmost being: you KNIT me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made… I was made in the secret place. When I was WOVEN together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my UNFORMED BODY How precious are your thoughts oh God” [13-17].

1. God created him… used different Hebrew word [H. canah]: to possess, own [the concept is used in Leviticus of sacrificial animal – perfect as for sacrifice to God]

2. Knit together in womb… woven: [H. racham] skillfully fabricated, embroidered

3. Fearfully made… [H. yara] = reverently by awesome God

4. Wonderfully made…[H. palah] = incomprehensible, extra ordinary

5. Unformed body… [H. golem] = embryo

Job also opines, “Your hands shaped me and made me. You molded me like clay. You clothed me with skin and flesh and knit me together with bones and sinews. You gave me life… [10:8-12].

Someone has said, “Man is the Ultimate Electric Machine” [AiG, p.22, M-A 17]. The Brain & Nervous System is constantly rewiring itself for change & is indescribably complex. Through use the brain creates new pathways. The muscles react to electrical impulses, making prosthetics possible. This required a Master Engineer.

FEARFULLY & WONDERFULLY MADE = REVERENTLY & INCOMPREHENISBLY

When God created man, Job says he prepared a special place for him, “man was placed on the earth” [20:4]. The Psalmist says, “The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth He has given to man” [115:16]. Everything God does is Perfect [Du 32:4]

The Evolutionist is not impressed that this is scientific; therefore, he is proposing two other options. 1. The right conditions at a deep-sea thermal vent or 2. An asteroid brought the ingredients… such as sugar, 2-deoxyribose needed by DNA. Researchers have found some distant substance but added, “It might be found on another meteorite. It only requires the right conditions to ‘make the jump from the cocktail of chemicals to living creatures’” [Life from asteroid theory]. So, we still don’t know how life started on planet Earth. Maybe from existing ingredients or asteroids / comets.      [Phys.org] 2018.

“Ancient proteins embedded in a meteorite” could potentially have brought non-biological original life from an Eternal Universe. And so it goes… keep looking!
