I.              JUNO SPACE MISSION - 2016

It all began 5 years ago [2011], when NASA sent it’s “Juno” Space Mission, on a 1.8 billion mile journey, to orbit planet Jupiter in our earth’s solar system, at a cost of $1.1 billion. The mission was a success when it was announced on July 4, 2016, that Juno had successfully been captured by Jupiter’s gravity and gone into 54 day orbits. What an event, and in our lifetime. Scientists are making astounding discoveries about God’s wonderful creation because He is keeping everything just where He put it [Heb 1:3; Is 40:26]. Juno is 5AU from the Sun meaning it is 5 X distance of E. to Sun.

Juno was sent on its way by a “gravitational slingshot” around earth to a speed of 165,000 miles per hour [40 miles per second] to become the fastest man-made object. It was kept on its five year flight by solar power obtained through its 30’ solar panels. [versus normal

On approach to the ‘Lord or King of the Solar System’, traveling at 30,000 mph, NASA caused Juno to fire its engine to slow down for a dangerous ‘orbit insertion’ into Jupiter’s gravity. It began 54 day orbits, 3,000 miles above Jupiter to join its other 67 moons.

Jupiter has a ‘magnetosphere’ which is the strongest in the solar system, making it an ‘extreme world’ & very deadly to humans. Earth receives only 1/3 radiation, while Jupiter’s is 30 million!  Juno’s instruments are cased in titanium vaults to protect from the intense radiation. Jupiter has spectacular ‘auroras’ because of this radiation.

It is a ‘gas’ planet of hydrogen and helium. They hope to find out what else it is made of and how it came to be for scientists think, as the largest planet, it was the first to form.

On October 9, another burn will change Juno’s orbit to a 14 day orbit to take a closer look below its clouds and face the worst of its radiation. Then, after 37 orbits in its 20 month life, it will be deliberately crashed into Jupiter’s north pole to protect the Jovian moons “which might be harboring life”? Scheduled death of probe 2021

Why would we be surprised at this phenomenal scientific feat? We put a man on the moon, did we not? So why not send people to Mars? It’s a whole lot closer! NASA is currently preparing a new rocket system called “Space Launch System” [SLM]. It has prepared the “Orion Capsule” to transport travelers. New diagnostic and treatment measures called ‘Aptamer Drugs’ are being currently designed to treat diseases while millions of miles from home and any medical help in time.

What was the purpose of this 5 year, 1.1 billion dollar spectacular event? NASA says, “To understand the solar system’s beginning”. God is not a choice.

II.            PARKER SOLAR PROBE – 2018, costing $1.5 Billion

Two years later they began to set out for another search to try and understand the inner workings of our sun. It took many years to work out the details of this adventure, for no one had ever been able to venture into the corona of the sun which is hot enough to melt led at 2,500 degrees. It is designed to orbit the sun 7 times over 10 years to get no closer than 8 million miles from the sun’s “surface”. To accomplish this feat it must “sling shot” around Venus for a gravity assist to attain a speed of 430,000 mph for the final journey through the solar wind traveling at a million mph causing our space weather and the corona. Our star-sun is one of God’s amazing tricks how He lite the atomic furnace producing all that heat by turning its Hydrogen into Helium by the tons / second.

III.           JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE – 2021, costing $10 billion over 18 yrs

Space has become the latest frontier to understand, to conquer & even try to colonize, or to find new Earth-like planets & hopefully civilizations. But most of all to look back to what the universe was like right after the so called “Big Bang”. That lofty goal contained numerous hurdles that took years to design & develop. Fascinating that to prepare for this goal it took many design engineers years, while a Universe is thought to have happened by trial & error but no designer.

This telescope was to be designed too large for any space ship, so they had to make the collecting mirrors fold to fit. Each of the 16 collecting mirrors had be adjustable to make them focus on the primary mirror. This telescope was to collect infared light so that it could “see” through cloud cover. It was to function in near absolute zero temperature; therefore, they designed a 5 layer sun shield as large as a ball field. That it could escape the earth’s atmosphere it was “parked” in orbit a million miles above earth at Lagrange 2, in synch with the earth’s rotation. It was planned to replace the ageing …. Telescope.
