19. OTHER WORLDS TO BE FOUND? “Heaven & Hell”
I. INTRODUCTION
1. Many have asked, “IS THERE LIFE ON OTHER PLANETS”? [Cover-- Time 2/5/96]
2. Scientists continue to ask, “IS OURS THE ONLY UNIVERSE”? [USNews and World Report cover for June 20, 1998] Scientists want to believe that there are numerous universes being born all the time. “MULTI-verses” in stead of a “UNI-verse”.
But, the Bible only speaks of one inhabitable planet; therefore, since I do not believe Planet Earth just happened by chance, why should there not be others for which to search?
3. BIG-BANG THEORY OF CREATION, proposed in the 1920s, as a scientific joke, was an alternative to the ‘steady state’ theory of evolution. Evidence was piling indicating that the universe is expanding, having started from a ‘Genesis-like instant of creation’ when all the stuff of the universe was compacted into a “super-dense ‘false vacume’’’ the size of a proton or a cosmic mustard seed. The big bang is the name given to the ‘quantum sensational fluctuation’ which caused this ‘singularity’ or ‘infinite density’ to become unglued. In the following ‘inflation’, ‘virtual particles’ materialized out of nothing.
4. This is going on all the time as the “black holes” in space, acting like giant sweepers of space gather everything in its gravity and spawn new universes in a trillionth of a trillionth of a second. The spawned multiverses fly off into a new ‘dimention’ so fast no one has ever seen it happen, nor can they prove they exist. THAT IS FAITH!
It is interesting that men want to know what was before the Genesis Moment. It is also interesting that men are recognizing that the universe is ‘designed to sustain life’. There is a sense of purpose.to it all. But they reject the idea that God is the great Designer.
II. CREATIONISM
How to make a habitable universe!
What is needed to build that universe!
The ability & knowledge to envision & design: time, space & its fabric, matter able to be organized, energy, light in all its spectrums, planes in which the stars in their galaxies & planets with their nuclear furnaces burning in their solar system can orbit and not perturb one another, and finally all kinds of life: animal, microbial, vegetable, vegetation and finally human.
A. Gen. 1:1 In the beginning, GOD=the existence of God and nothing else. Only God can create. Hebrews 1:10 “In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of you hands”. Psalm 102:25 “In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands”.
B. In the BEGINNING=TIME. God is eternal and there was no ‘time concept’
C. God created=everything needed to build the universe for nothing was.
D. First, the ‘heavens’=in Hebrew it means SPACE—that is a place to put things
E. Second, the ‘earth’=in Hebrew it means MATTER—that which occupies space
Gen. 1:2 “And MATTER was formless and empty, and darkness was…[exactly what one would expect, since the elements are but building blocks waiting to be built. Darkness is the absence of light, and light had not yet been created.]
F. Third, Gen 1:2 “and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters” The Hebrew word picture is that of an eagle sitting on the next. Why does a bird sit on the nest? It is heating the eggs. Heat is a form of ENERGY.
G. Fourth, Gen. 1:3 “let there be LIGHT”[G]
H. Fifth, Gen. 1:6 “Let there be a firmament[H]=in Hebrew it means ‘a PLANE’, like a sheet of glass. The stars and planets are not helter-skeltrer in space. They are all in one plane which is five billion light years in radius. Our solar system is 100,000 light years wide and 16,000 light years thick. Our galaxy is the Milky Way. In this firmament are the ‘black holes’ [I[ spoken of earlier.
I. Sixth, Gen. 1:14-16 “let there be lights’=HEAVENLY BODIES: sun, moon, stars and planets.
J. Seventh, Gen 1:20.24.26 “living creatures and man”=LIFE
I. CONCLUSION:
Gen. 1:31 “And God saw all that He had made, and it was very good. And there was evening and morning—the sixth day”.
